Kicking It with the San Jose Earthquakes

Tuesday July 05, 2022

A GDB puppy raising volunteer and San Jose Earthquakes Goalie JT Marcinkowsi both hold yellow Lab guide dog puppies.

GDB is excited to join forces with professional soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes to raise awareness of our life-changing mission. The relationship kicked off this past week when players and fans got a heap of puppy love, thanks to visits from GDB puppies in training and volunteer puppy raisers. Pups and volunteers joined the team for a practice session early in the week, making sure to offer the players, coaches, and Earthquakes staff plenty of good luck snuggles and belly rubs leading up to the match with rivals Chicago Fire on Sunday, July 3. Pups and raisers also came out in force for the match, cheering on the team while also spreading smiles to all the fans in the stands.

The puppy power must have worked - the Earthquakes won 2-1!

But the love went both ways. During the match, the Earthquakes aired a GDB public service announcement on the stadium Jumbotron featuring its players with our pups, and gave GDB a prominent place in the stadium’s Fan Space at half time for our pups, volunteers, and staff to connect with folks that may want to join our community. The game was televised as well, helping GDB to raise awareness of our programs even further.

Thank you to the San Jose Earthquakes for teaming up with us to share GDB’s life-changing mission. We look forward to scoring more goals with you in the future!
