About Guide Dogs for the Blind

Four people and their guide dogs in a garden setting; the people have their arms raised in celebration.

Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) is an industry-leading guide dog school dedicated to serve and empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Our client programs are provided to qualified individuals from the United States and Canada at no cost to them. We are a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization supported entirely by private donations, and we rely on one of the nation’s largest networks of volunteers to assist in the success of our mission. Passionate volunteers, just like you!

It takes a lot of people to help usher a guide dog puppy down the path to becoming a successful guide dog, K9 Buddy, or GDB breeder dog. We have more than 2,000 volunteer puppy raising families in the Western United States, donating their time, effort, and hearts to the care and socialization of GDB puppies, from the time the pups are wobbly, cute balls of fur until they return to one of our campuses for formal guide dog training as confident and curious young dogs.

We are incredibly proud of you, our puppy raising volunteers, and so grateful for your hard work and dedication. Together, we are unstoppable! Thank you!
